THROW YOUR CAUTION TO THE WIND

Ok, so you’ve heard all the jokes…

“A boat is a hole in the water you throw money into”

B.O.A.T

Bring Out Another Thousand

The two best days of owning a boat are the day you bought it, and the day you sell it.

There is some truth to all of these and others, but you have chosen to ignore them and are throwing all caution to the wind. Why? Because you’re a damn fool – just like us.

The lure of the sea, the sweeping lines of boats, and desire to explore places you’ve only heard about is just too much to resist. We get it. You’ve fallen prey to your innermost desires and purchased a boat. So now what? Where do you moor it? How do you move it? Insure it? Where will you store it? Who will tune the rig? Fix the engine? The list goes on and on…

We’re here to help. Hopefully we’ll provide you with some necessary information that will at least keep you from looking like a fool…Between the blog (Squared Away), and the Resource Directory, you’ll find all the answers you need.

For now, we’re focusing on the Maine, but we’ll be expanding south shortly.

If you’re a super experienced yachty type, this site is probably not for you.

If you’re an armchair sailor, weekend warrior, or an avid sailor with an itch that can only be scratched if you actually have your own boat, or you’ve already taken the fateful step and purchased a vessel and are wondering what the heck to do next, this site IS for you.

All others, well, you might find this all very entertaining and maybe you’ll nod your head with grim understanding of having been there and done that. So, stick around and check it out.

So come along with my two best friends and me as we fix up our 43-year-old boat, evade divorce, find out what other owners love about their boats, investigate some of the businesses that keep us all afloat, do some racing, and adventure-cruise along the coast of Maine!

Hopefully we can help you side-step some of the mishaps we encounter so you won’t make the same mistakes!
